The Energy Mineral Division has awarded Dr. Alan Kornacki the Frank Kottlowski Memorial Award. The award was presented to Alan at the EMD Luncheon April 12, 2011, during the 2011 AAPG Annual Meeting in Houston. The Frank Kottlowski Memorial Award (formerly known as the "Best Paper Award") is presented to the author(s) of an oral presentation that is judged to be the "best oral paper" in any EMD-sponsored technical session at an AAPG annual meeting.
The paper for which Alan received the award describes the composition of mud-gas and produced gas samples from Haynesville and Bossier gas shales. Dr. Kornacki co-authored this paper with Kim Manzano-Kareah.
